News Release: Local Community Health Workgroups Reach Important Milestone
Friday, March 1, 2024- The Coalition for a Healthier Frederick County is excited to share that the halfway point milestone has been reached by the Local Health Improvement Process (LHIP) workgroups. The LHIP workgroups guide the Frederick County response to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Type 2 Diabetes and Mental Health through diverse multisector action to impact community level health outcomes. As of January 1, 2024, the LHIP workgroups met the landmark of reaching the halfway point in the 2023-2025 cycle.
For the past 20 months, each workgroup has convened monthly as a group of community leaders and progressed through action plans targeted to positively affect population health in their identified health priority areas of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Type 2 Diabetes and Mental Health.
Malcolm Furgol, Executive Director for the Coalition for a Healthier Frederick County, shares “Dozens of community members have come together through these workgroups to combine their passion for building a healthier Frederick County with the resources the Coalition has been able to secure through our partners. This coordinated collaboration has led to innovative solutions and recommendations for how our community's service providers can work together with local government, nonprofits and businesses to improve health outcomes for all. We are incredibly thankful for all involved, and are excited about what is to come in the next half of this current cycle."
We congratulate these workgroups on their collective progress, and continued momentum to impact these health priority areas.
