For the past 22 years, during National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, Frederick Interfaith has recognized the first day of that week as a Community Day of Prayer for the Hungry and Homeless. All faith groups are encouraged to dedicate specific thought and prayer to those in need on that day. Community Day of Prayer will begin with a dinner provided by many different faith groups and served at the Community Table. About 140 people will join for dinner from 5:00 - 6:30pm.
At 6:30pm, the Frederick Housing Solutions Task Force, in collaboration with Healthier Frederick, will share an updated presentation about the progress being made to address the urgent need for affordable housing in Frederick City and Frederick County. The public is invited to attend this presentation to learn about the efforts being made to provide housing for the unhoused.
At 7:00pm, people of all faiths are invited to participate in the Interfaith Candlelight Prayer Walk starting outside the Community Table Dining Room. The prayer walk will visit some nearby places that address the needs of the hungry and homeless. At the conclusion of the Prayer Walk, we will return to the Community Table Dining Hall at around 7:45pm for hot drinks and reflections. Members of The Frederick Housing Solutions Task Force will be available to answer questions and listen to ideas.
We hope you and your families and friends will join us for this special event. You do not have to contribute to the dinner to join us in the presentation or prayer walk.
Events are sponsored by Frederick Interfaith and Frederick Housing Solutions Task Force, a LHIP Workgroup of the Coalition for Healthier Frederick County.
