Spread the Word: Support is Available
The Frederick County Health Department, Frederick Health and the Coalition for a Healthier Frederick County are working together to spread the word about two programs in our county that help residents lower their risk for high blood pressure and diabetes.
Did You Know?
Heart disease is the #1 leading cause of death in the U.S. and in Frederick County.
Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death in Frederick County.
High blood pressure and diabetes both increase your risk for heart disease.
In Frederick County …
Almost 30% of residents report having high blood pressure. Even more residents (about 20%) have it but don’t know it!
Almost 10% of residents report having type 2 diabetes. Another 20% likely have it and don’t know it. 1 in 3 people have “prediabetes,” which often leads to diabetes.
The Healthy Hearts Program and the Diabetes Prevention Program can help!
Both programs give you tools and support to better manage high blood pressure and reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes.
When you prevent or manage one chronic condition, you help prevent or manage other chronic conditions!
Take the next step and get the support you need to get more active, eat healthier, and more!
